Aries Rising Mars as Ruler in Aries: Mars is well, moreover, its positive Sign. Whilst the impulse in the nature will be strong because of the basic desire for action, the ideals behind the impulse and the action will, usually, be good. From the general standpoint the nature will be straightforward, honest and upright, the ideals themselves will be good. Though mistakes and errors of judgment can occur because of the natural impulse the ensuing conditions will be accepted.

It will intensify the inward inspiration causing many thoughts and ideas to pass through the consciousness and giving the incentive for action. Indicating that the natural courage will be drawn out, there will be great independence and the desire for leadership and for being at the head of affairs, irrespective of the position held in life, will be strong. It will not be easy to restrain impulse and, on many occasions hasty decision and action will occur. Interests of both a mental and a mechanical nature will make an appeal and the factors of initiative and exploration will be strong. There will always be an attempt to break away from the stereotyped lines of thought and action.

Aries Rising Mars as Ruler in Taurus: Its power is limited, frustrated and, as it were, 'bent'. Unfavourable traits of character will be drawn out and expressed, particularly when things go awry as a result of impulsive action or the taking of unwise chances. Personal training can bring about a degree of control and when this is accomplished the natural determination can be directed through channels of a constructive nature which will assist work, money and social conditions.

This is not too good a position for Mars. It signifies that at times circumstances will restrict the natural desire for expression and interfere with the personal freedom of action, with the result that the rebellious instincts will be drawn out, causing things to be said and done in an attempt to overcome the limitations. Aries Rising Mars as Ruler in Gemini: Mars in this sign does not give any particular dignity or debility to the Planet. Its expression will be naturally free and if unrestrained shows rather an expansive line of thought and action which can become diffusive. If the thoughts and actions are directed into planned channels, then considerable and even rapid progress will be brought about. The argumentative side of the nature should not be permitted to get beyond control. If it does it will cause disputes and upsets with relatives and neighbors.

Aries Rising Mars as Ruler in Cancer. Mars is very unfavorably placed when in Cancer as this is the Sign of its Debilitation. It intensifies the feelings and emotions in an undesirable manner and brings a disturbing reaction upon family life. When ruler of Aries the unfavorable signification is even greater, for Cancer as a Sign is in Square aspect to Aries. It will, therefore, bring many obstructing incidents, a holding up of developments, plans and personal activities. Sometimes family obligations will interfere with personal freedom and lead to periodic rebellion and, at an extreme, a breaking up of domestic conditions. It also signifies an intensifying of emotional impulse.

This will enable good progress to be made in life provided a reasonable line of thought and action is maintained. If extremes are permitted difficulties will occur. Generally speaking the nature is expressive, optimistic, enthusiastic. The Leo vibration will give more determination and persistence, and will help to restrain some of the Aries restlessness and impulse.

Mars in the Sign Leo at birth indicates that the personal ambition will be accentuated and, backed up by the courage and determination given by Mars, will help in the making of progress and in the realizing of hopes and wishes. The idealistic side of the nature will be marked. It gives an ability to set an example to others and to demonstrate knowledge and moral worth in a constructive manner. Mars in Virgo is a contrary combination. Although showing a blending of physical, mental and mechanical ability, it creates a degree of touchiness and hence the native is easily excited to impulsive and unpremeditated action which disturbs the existing trend of affairs. Argumentativeness will be rather marked together with a tendency towards finding fault, and these traits will, naturally, have an adverse reaction on interests to do with work as well as with the domestic and private side of life.

There will be periods of friction and of unhappiness and, at times, a resentment of the calmness and apparent slowness of other people. It is in the Sign Virgo at birth showing that the mental and intellectual side of the nature will be intensified. There will be no hesitation in carrying ideas into action, yet a feeling of impatience will be engendered if details and routine take up what seems to be undue time. Nevertheless, discretion will be necessary as, otherwise, there can be a straining of friendships and associations, and a creating of misunderstandings which will certainly not be desired. Although Virgo does give a degree of natural forethought and reflection. However, there is a danger of jumping too suddenly to conclusions and a liability toward entering too readily into arguments with others.

Aries Rising as Ruler in Libra. This position of Mars in Libra is not too good a one. The impulse of Aries is added to the weakness of Libra and the desire for pleasure, affection and certain of the good things of life, in some respects, become a source of difficulty and lead the person into channels through which difficulties and unpleasantness emerge. The liability toward making unwise associations and ties is very marked as Libra is a sign connected with marriage and, hence, can be productive of unions with unsatisfactory results.

It gives further indications of an activity of mind and body. In some respects there will be the need to use considerable discretion in associations, as the desire for pleasure will be strong, and if given way too much to the element of impulse you will find yourself influenced more by your companions than you may realise, despite your natural expression of independence and, hence, can do things which will have an unpleasant reaction. Discretion will always be required regarding flirtations and love affairs, as well as in matters to do with co-operation and partnership, and you should resist any tendency toward giving way to the line of least resistance.

Aries Rising Mars as ruler in Scorpio. This is mainly a good position, as Mars is in its own sign and, naturally, this is favourable. There will be better blending of idealism with practicality for the Scorpio vibration helps to exercise a control over the more restless and impulsive tendencies of Aries. Usually this combination aids the spirit of adventure and experimentation or research, but it is more indicative of the surgeon, chemist or scientist than that of a warrior. The element of courage is controlled and directed.

It intensifies natural courage and shows that you will always be active and energetic, a rather unique position. Aries Rising Mars as Ruler in Sagittarius: In the main, Mars in Sagittarius is a good position despite the desire for variety and the tendency toward restlessness and the taking of risks. It draws out the spirit of independence and yet signifies a willingness to work in with others for certain ends for the time being. Anything of a too hard and fast, or restrictive nature would only cause the rebellious tendency to express itself. It is a combination which is indicative of the explorer and adventurer, and sometimes, of the missionary, for Sagittarius is a Sign much associated with religion and also with foreign and overseas affairs.

It intensifies your natural activity of thought and expression as well as your courage and helps you in facing up to the vicissitudes of life. Showing that your desire for variety and for freedom will be intensified and you will fight against restrictions and limitations, sometimes to the point of open rebellion. Aries Rising Mars as Ruler in Capricorn. Mars is Exalted in the Sign Capricorn and, therefore, this is an exceptionally good position and invariably draws out the best side of the nature. Nevertheless, when it is ruler of Aries it will always bring a fight against obstructive and, sometimes, unfair conditions and misunderstandings, for Capricorn and Aries are in Square aspect to each other. At times the more impulsive side of the nature will act despite the natural caution of Capricorn, when this occurs mistakes and errors of judgment can be made. It is a good position for business, politics and public life.

Its natural attributes of energy, activity, enterprise and courage will be expressed in many ways. Signifying that you will have a strong attraction towards both business and political affairs and will be ambitious. You have the capacity to make headway and progress in life and will not let the obstruction, interference or jealousy of others prevent you from doing so, but there will be times when your zeal will be much misunderstood and when others will create unpleasantness or try to stop your progress. In many instances you will have to fight alone but if you can obtain results by diplomatic rather than by unduly forceful methods you will find that the ultimate outcome of affairs will be very much more satisfactory. You will need to guard against any reaction upon your business position. The last part of life is shown to be the most successful.

Aries Rising Mars as Ruler in Aquarius: Mars as ruler of Aries in Aquarius is a very much better position than as ruler of Scorpio. There will be a more harmonious blending of thought and action and a directing of activities towards beneficial ends. Aries and Aquarius are in Sextile to each other, hence circumstances themselves will bring greater scope for expression, while there will be increased natural capacity for the creating and developing of opportunities. It is much more helpful as regards friendships and associations, and there will not be the same liability to friction or jealousies.

It brings about a combining of physical and intellectual courage. Signifying that the realising of your main hopes and wishes in life will depend partly upon your own efforts and initiative and partly upon the forming of constructive friendships and associations. Aquarius will help to control some of the more impetuous and hasty inclinations of Aries and will enable you to direct thought and action toward more definite ends and, if you endeavour to combine the practical with the ideal, you will assist your own progress very considerably. There is an underlying degree of inventiveness which can be drawn out and expressed, so as to have a beneficial reaction upon professional, business and financial affairs of life, as well as those of a social or public nature.

Aries Rising Mars as Ruler in Pisces. Mars in Pisces, as ruler of Aries, is rather an unfavourable position and brings all kinds of difficulties and upsets into the life. There will be a fight against restrictive and unfair conditions, and a great deal will depend upon the House position of Mars, and its Aspects, as to the outcome of affairs. When the Aspects are good there will be a mitigating of difficulties and the fight against wrong conditions will bring good results.

It intensifies your natural sense of courage and enterprise as well as your spirit of adventure. Signifying that you will experience many vicissitudes of fortune and will know what it is to suffer through unkind actions and enmity of other people, whilst circumstances can compel you to make sacrifices, both for people and causes, yet not permit you to gain much future reward. It is a combination that brings you up against prejudice, restriction and even tyranny, and shows that, as a result of standing up for your own convictions, you can suffer in many ways, you should, therefore, always endeavour to use discrimination and should not give way thoughtlessly to certain forms of impulse, nor should you permit yourself to be influenced too literally by the actions of others, but should endeavour to let common sense guide your decisions and actions. Discretion will be required as well regarding affectionate matters and the forming of attachments.
